EMAS Engineering and Fabrication division’s capabilities extend from engineering design expertise located in London to fabrication facilities in Vietnam. The division has the capability to design and provide external and internal turrets, disconnectable turrets and spread mooring systems for FPSOs and FSOs as well as fabricate heavy equipment and vessels for the offshore industry.
Strong Engineering & Design Track Record
The division had designed 9 turret mooring systems including the world’s first ever turret for a permanently moored Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). Mooring systems have been designed for water depths of 15 to 2200m water depth and significant wave heights in excess of 11m. The division had also participated in an EU funded research project for a large offshore LNG terminal and developed the design of a large external turret for 18 risers in up to 2000m water depth.
Modern Shipbuilding Facilities
Our presence in Vietnam consists of the Saigon Shipyard Ltd and Saigon Offshore Fabrication and Engineering Ltd.
The Saigon Shipyard is a fully built-up shipbuilding facility, ISO 9001 certified for metal fabrication and ship building; and outfitted with a comprehensive range of modern equipment and machineries. With a yard area of 10 hectares, the Saigon Shipyard is situated next to Cat Lai Port in Saigon with 300m long, 9m deep water river frontage. It is fitted with 200m long heavy duty load out wharf with maximum load bearing capacity of 15-ton per m2 and direct access to the South China Sea.
The yard is well-thought out and planned, affording a logical work flow from material handling to completed steel blocks. To facilitate movement of materials, there are 24 overhead and gantry cranes, ranging from 5 to 50mt capacity. The 50,000m2 of covered space including two erection shops, each 48m wide and 100m long, represents 50% of total land area, ensures the yard is productive in all weather conditions.
Under construction at the yard are 2 units of 6000dwt clean product tankers and 4 units of E320 liftboats. The liftboats are the largest of its kind in the world and the first of its type to be fabricated in Vietnam.
Saigon Offshore Fabrication and Engineering Ltd, situated in Vung Tau, occupies about 10 hectares is due for 1st phase completion by Dec 2009. When completed, it will feature modern workshops, equipped for jacket fabrication, shipbuilding and repairs.
